Antur, as a company, is determined to "put something back into the community that we serve." As a result, we have become heavily involved in Music, the Arts and in Sporting arenas over the last couple of years as well as our commitment to supporting Welsh Charities.

In previous years Antur has donated £1,500 to Fishguard charity, POINT, a drop-in centre which provides more than 300 11-25 year olds with help and advice from youth workers and a nurse. £1,209 has been raised for the Swansea & Neath Autistic Society and Wales Air Ambulance and most recently £1511 was presented to Antur's 2010/11 adopted charities, Victory Outreach and Cancer Research Wales.

Sian Lynch, Antur’s finance director, said: "At Antur, we pride ourselves on being a Welsh company with an established base in West Wales. We’re keen to work with local organisations and charities in the communities in which we serve to add value to the area and to give back where we can".

This year Antur has decided to channel its fund raising efforts into supporting two charities. Any funds raised by the Antur Group throughout 2011/2012 will be split equally between these 2 charities.

Latch Wales

LATCH is a voluntary organisation set up in 1982 to support the special requirements of the children’s oncology centre at the Children’s Hospital for Wales, to help affected families and promote research into childhood cancer.

Their primary aim is to ease the journey of the children and their families during the months, and in many cases years, of difficult and painful treatment. LATCH provides grants to alleviate the huge financial burden they experience when they give up work to look after their sick child. Trips and treats, such as the annual party, are organised to help to keep the childrens’ spirits up.

Funding is provided to purchase vital medical equipment for the Unit, together with televisions, art and craft items and toys to keep the children amused during their stay in hospital. Research projects into childhood cancer are supported.

Latch Wales

The Joshua Foundation (TJF) is a Cardiff based national charity that was created in September 1998 to provide holidays and experiences for children with terminal cancer and their families. The Joshua Foundation was launched on September 27th 1998 with a 5k fun run/walk that raised over £16,000 and on January 17th, 1999, a huge party at Planet Hollywood, London, saw the first gathering of children from oncology units across the UK and was the beginning of TJF experiences.

Since the creation of the charity thousands of children and their families have been provided with holidays and experiences all around the world. Individual experiences range from family holidays to opportunities to meet favourite movie, sports and pop stars. We also pride ourselves on the provision of high quality group events which have become the specialty of The Joshua Foundation.

These events involve bringing together children with cancer and their families from all across the UK for the purposes of providing them with the opportunity to mix with other families similarly affected by cancer. These range from Breakfast with Easter Bunny/Santa, London Trips, Euro Disney Breaks, Halloween Parties and Lapland Day Trips at Christmas.

Abergwaun presentation

In 2011, Antur entered two projects into the Aviva Community Fund Awards and we are delighted to announce that both made it through to the finals. Congratulations to Abergwaun Gateway Club in Fishguard, who went on to win the £10,000 cash prize. The Gateway Club is a social group which aims to provide an opportunity for those with learning disabilities (and their families and carers). It beat off competition from across the UK and the £10,000 award will go a long way in securing their future activities. John Knox, Chairman of Antur Insurance, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled that the Abergwaun Gateway Club will be receiving £10,000 to help them to continue delivering a great service for adults with learning disabilities. It really is a fantastic achievement and we are glad we could help support a local charity that is close to our hearts in Pembrokeshire.”
